Your Summer Guide to Outdoor Movie Watching in the Puget Sound

Washington State may have rainy autumns and gray winters, but one thing you’ve got to love about Seattle is the summers! There’s no better time to get outdoors and enjoy movies! Bring the entire family (at many events you can even bring your pooch!), grab some food from a local food truck, then sit back and enjoy the show!

When: Saturday evenings at dusk, July 25-August 22
Cost: Free!

Inside Scoop: Seating is available on a first come, first served basis.  No pets are allowed at this one, due to the limited space for seating (unless they are medical companions).  Food and beverages are available in the Seattle Center Armory.

Outdoor Movies at Magnuson Park

When: Thursday evenings (start times are either 6:30 or 7 depending) from July 9-August 27
Cost: $5 per person

Inside Scoop: This is a super fun evening for families.  Parking is free and there is tons of entertainment, gobs of delicious food trucks, movie trivia and more.  Plus you can bring your pet!

Fremont Outdoor Cinema

When: Kick-off Night (FREE) July 10th followed by paid shows beginning July 18th, movies start at dusk
Cost: $5 admission for all ages/ $10 on evenings that benefit a particular non-profit

Inside Scoop: Seattle’s “oldest, longest, funniest, original outdoor movie experience,” Fremont Outdoor Cinema has been delighting audiences for 22 years!  Local co-founders Jon Hegeman of the Fremont Market and Charlotte Buchanan from the old Glamorama bring both a love for cinema and a passion for the neighborhood.   Be sure to note, this is a parking lot, not a grassy field- so bring comfy chairs or blankets.  You can order tickets on-line or at the door.  Best seats go around 7pm-  but you can buy your ticket and save yourself a seat then go grab a bite in the neighborhood.

Bellevue Summer Outdoor Movies

When: Tuesday evenings at dusk from July 7-August 25
Cost: Free!

Inside Scoop: ALL of the movies in the Bellevue Summer Outdoor Movie line-up are kid friendly (with either a G or PG rating) so you know for sure they are appropriate for your entire crew!  This year the movie series is being held at Hidden Valley Sports Park while the usual venue, Downtown Bellevue Park is experiencing a makeover.  In case of rain, movies will be moved to South Bellevue Community Center.
