Tune in for a broadcast from high above as KEXP transmits live from Seattle’s iconic Space Needle on Thursday, July 11th, starting at noon and running through Mudhoney’s performance live on the very top of the Needle at 5PM PST.
Throughout the day, KEXP DJs will spin from deep within the Sub Pop catalog. At 11AM, Midday Show host Cheryl Waters will talk to Sub Pop’s label president Jonathan Poneman (a former KCMU DJ himself) and label vice president Megan Jasper to preview the Sub Pop Silver Jubilee itself, a free music festival this Saturday in Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood. Starting at noon, KEXP’s John Richards and Kevin Cole ascend the Needle to feature guests including Sub Pop luminaries like label founder Bruce Pavitt and Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil (both KCMU/KEXP alumni), as well as legendary photographer Charles Peterson and producer Jack Endino.
And before Mudhoney’s soon to be historic conquering of the Space Needle at 5PM, local singer-songwriter Sera Cahoone and Dinosaur Jr. frontman J. Mascis will also perform live.
The best part? You can stream all of this in both audio and video! You’ll be able to hear KEXP at the usual places -- 90.3 FM in Seattle and worldwide at KEXP.org -- and you can also watch the performances during our live video stream, featured prominently at KEXP.org.
